So, I don’t know about you guys, but I am terrible about reading when and what I say I’m going to read in a timely manner. I have bookshelves full of books I’ve never cracked open. 2020 gave me the time I was looking for, and I did get back into the swing of things, finding pleasure in the ritual of it at the end of my day. I started with one chapter a day and eased into a groove. Now I can’t wait to read every single book on my shelf.
I saved a few books that I felt were appropriate for January, and I’m hoping they’ll bring me (and maybe you) the inspiration I’m looking for this year.
Here’s what I’m reading:
Rich Bitch
By: Nicole Lapin
Another focus for me this year – my finances. I never really go into a new year with a plan or budget for that matter, but I actually sat down and made one this year. I’m still a single lady and I want to feel empowered and not intimidated anymore to take full control of my finances. I spent the majority of my 20s sort of flying by the seat of my pants. I did alright, but there is so much potential to really make the most of life – including the financial part of it.
This Messy Magnificent Life: A Field Guide
By: Geneen Roth
This book was gifted to me last year for Christmas. No, not 2020. According to the books description, is focuses on the practice of “freeing ourselves from daily anxiety, lack, and discontent.” It’s also a “deep dive into what lies behind our self-criticism.” Ummm… yeah. Sounds relatable and right up my alley.
Girl, Stop Apologizing
By: Rachel Hollis
Not going to lie, I already started reading this one. And I can’t help but be inspired each time I pick it up. I know I’m late on this train. I feel like everyone and their mom has already read this sequel, but I tend to procrastinate. No better time than the present, right?
Boss Up! This Ain’t Your Mamas Business Book
By: Lindsay Teague Moreno
This book was another gift I received last Christmas. First of all, if you’re going to judge a book by its cover, you can trust that this one is at least aesthetically pleasing. While I’m not necessarily starting a business here – I am entering into brand new territory with this blog and I want to feel like the boss.
Candace Cameron Bure – Special Edition CSB (in)courage Devotional Bible
By: God
And another BIG focus for me this year – developing a closer relationship with God. I asked for a devotional Bible for Christmas this year and this is the one that my mom picked out for me. It’s beautiful and big enough for notes and studying. I’ve been diving further into my faith throughout 2020 and I love having a brand new Bible to get me through whatever 2021 has in store for me. Also, thanks to Candace Cameron Bure! (My mom loves Hallmark more than anyone, so this purchase makes all the sense.)
