Am I the only one who scrolls through their social media feeds and takes screenshots of things that look awesome that I think I want to buy, but I’m not quite ready to buy? Do the photos just sit on your phone untouched for months or maybe even years?
Well, then, we have something in common!
While I was stuck home recovering from Covid I decided to put my money where my screenshots were, and I bought some new goodies to see if they were worth the hype.
- Billie Razor – Okay, I’m going to be honest here – this razor is not groundbreaking. I grew up with a Venus, and in my opinion, it’s just as good, if not better. HOWEVER, it is a nice razor. After the stupid number of times I’ve perused the razor refill choices and decided to just buy a new razor because it was cheaper than the other options – this actually seems like a better option. I ordered the Razor Starter Kit in Coral, the Razor Travel Case, and I also decided to try The Shave Cream. The shave cream is scentless and does the job. It does feel very moisturizing and is softer than a gel. My favorite part about this purchase is that I am set up to receive 4 refill blades every 2 months. THAT MEANS I NEVER HAVE TO LEAVE MY HOUSE TO BUY RAZORS AGAIN. It’s also very affordable for everything that is included.
- Thrive Causemetics – I have been seeing this brand all over my Pinterest, and I get almost a high from watching women try out their products. I wanted to try the mascara and the highlighting sticks, so I went with the Eye-Opening Duo to try them out. I chose the Brilliant Eye Brightener highlighting stick in Stella, a champagne shimmer. It’s smooth, subtle, and beautiful. It’s perfect for a quick and understated look, or would work perfectly as a base for a more dramatic eye look. Since I have nowhere to go anymore, I usually go for a quick daily swipe if I’m wearing it. The mascara is really where it’s at, though. I chose the rich black color in Brynn. I love mascara, and I love trying new mascaras and mascara combinations. This is is truly lengthening formula and really does the job of getting a super long, false-lash look. It reminds me of Benefit’s They’re Real or the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes formulas for length. What I like about Thrive’s mascara is that it really seems to pull each lash up individually, and there is no clumping at all. The brush is thin and rubbery, so the product distributes evenly when applied. I am super impressed by these products and can’t wait to try more.
- PONY-O – I was excited about this one…. I have thin hair and I wanted the effortless-looking full pony that I saw in their ads. I was hoping to have an option on days when I didn’t want to do anything with my hair and still look fabulous. I ordered one regular size and three small sizes for half up hairdos. Here’s the thing – I think I need longer hair to make these look good. What annoys me is that I feel like I basically have to curly my hair or style it before I can use these, or at least to make it worth it – which basically defeats the purpose. At least for me. If I try to throw it up in a pony without touching it after a shower, it looks dumb. I will say, at least for my hair texture, these stay in place nicely when I use them. I also like the thick band and how it looks in a high pony. That being said, I can’t say these met all of my expectations.
